The criteria

We chose the 6 criteria before scoring any source. They are what a person selling conference sponsorships, or prospecting the exhibitors of a trade show, can check on a source's own pages before paying. A criterion counts as met only when a page we read says so. A criterion that the pages do not mention counts as not met, so a source can do more than its pages show.

What each source misses

  • ConferenceDB publishes no named contacts. Its coverage is conferences and trade shows only, and it has no speaker data or alerts.
  • ConferenceGrid shows no sponsorship package prices on the pages we read. It has no named contacts.
  • ExhibitorsData has no free access beyond a downloadable sample, and its pages do not describe sponsor lists.
  • Expolista has no free list beyond a 5-row sample with the contact masked, and lists exhibitors, not sponsors. Its pricing page says a subscription is "coming soon".
  • SponsorPitch limits its free tier to 10 sponsor pages and 5 contacts. The pages we read do not show sponsor lists by event, exhibitor lists or package prices.
  • SponsorUnited publishes no price, and conferences and trade shows are not named as a coverage area on the page we read.

Which to use for which job

  • A free first list of who sponsors conferences like yours, and what they charge: ConferenceDB.
  • Tracking target accounts and speakers with Slack alerts: ConferenceGrid.
  • A contact file for the exhibitors of one trade show: Expolista (priced per show) or ExhibitorsData (priced per record).
  • Named contacts at sponsor brands: SponsorPitch.
  • Verified deal data across sports, media and brands, with a budget for a platform: SponsorUnited.

Method

Source: each source's own home, pricing and product pages, plus one event page where a source sells lists per event (Expolista CES 2027; ExhibitorsData AWFS Fair). We read them signed out, with a browser user agent, on 6 October 2026. ConferenceDB's figures are from its own pages as rendered on 6 October 2026: sponsor lists for 2,392 conferences, exhibitor lists for 640 events and published package prices for 1,127 conferences. Sources checked and not scored: 10times, SponsorMyEvent, VisitorsList and ExpoCaptive, because each returned an access block (HTTP 403) to our reader on the same day. A source that answers 403 to a reader may still show its pages to a person, and a source with more features than its public pages describe would score higher than it does here.

The scope is sources a person would use to find the companies that sponsor or exhibit at conferences and trade shows. It leaves out show-run directories and event calendars, and sources that sell attendee lists only. Each criterion is scored 1 or 0 from the quoted pages in services.csv. Prices change; the figures here are the ones on those pages on 6 October 2026.

Data

services.csv has one row per source with each criterion, the total, the price as published and the source page. criteria-met.csv and criteria-count.csv feed the two charts. not-scored.csv lists the sources we could not read.
